LAURA LENHARDT YOGA

“Through singing, I discovered yoga as a remarkable method to learn to focus attention on what is actually happening in the moment. What matters in life and on stage. My intensive study of yoga and holistic health systems such as Ayurveda brought a new dimension to my artistic development in search of an authentic voice as an artist and human being. For me, the multidimensional connection with body and mind, meditation and breathing is the (life) path to clarity, serenity, tolerance, courage and strength in the essence of all being.”

ABOUT

Laura discovered yoga while studying jazz singing. It helped her to become present and confident, strengthen her instrument and free her voice. Trained by Carl Faure and Calli Poppham at Stretch London and yoga icon Ana Forrest in Berlin, she playfully combines flow and grounding, with a focus on anatomy and wholeness. An emphasis on anatomy and alignment, as well as the kinaesthetic experience of her hands on assists are significant for her teaching style and pave the way to a more holistic body and mind awareness. Her classes combine an internally focused practice with a modern and holistic approach of a physically intense yoga practice, aiming to carry a transformative experience off the mat and into daily life. She likes to incorporate the voice in her classes, using healing vocalization exercises to find grounding and to let go. Laura encourages her students to find gracefulness through elements of contemporary dance to find the beauty of transition, exploring lightness and integrity in every single breath and movement. Using her experience as a jazz musician and performing artist, she wants to transmit improvisation and flexibility through yoga. Her aim is to hold the space for her students, encouraging them to go into the unknown, to explore, to learn and to accept.

Singing is a holistic approach to the body. Most children are born with a perfectly functioning vocal mechanism; without thinking about it they have the ability to produce sounds of great volume and brilliance.
Because the body works as a whole - with expansive support and antagonistically lengthening muscles, the rib cage is absolutely unconstricted, the throat is perfectly open and the diaphragm moves freely. How many adults or grown ups maintain this ability without tiring their voice?
Are you aware of your resonance cavities and the sonority of your authentic voice?

Perinatal Yoga

Pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period are extraordinary and intense events that we experience. It is an emotional and spiritual experience.

The well thought-out perinatal exercises keep the body active during the process of change and inevitably improve the pregnancy and birth experience. A strong body, stamina and the ability to relax and let go are worth their weight in gold, especially during this time of change - regardless of whether a child is being carried in the womb or already in the hands. The connection to your own body improves your own well-being and that of your child and promotes your energy and relaxation.
